Roadmap
This is the proposed publication roadmap for Rhea. Milestones describe intended outcomes, rather than promised release dates. Priorities may change as the introductory applications are validated and developers provide feedback.
First public release
The goal is an independently usable starting point for C++ developers:
- Build and run BasicApp from a standalone engine checkout.
- Build and run CubeWorkshop as an external application using CMake.
- Document tested toolchains, backends, dependencies, and known limitations.
- Complete the repository's publication-readiness review.
- Publish release notes and documentation tied to the tested engine revision.
The first public version is 0.1.0. It is an experimental development release with no backward-compatibility guarantee.
After the first release
- Address build, runtime, and documentation problems reported by early users.
- Prepare a redistributable scene and a verified Ceto walkthrough.
- Expand examples for resource loading, scene composition, and selected subsystem integrations.
- Improve asset workflows and document extension interfaces.
Runtime 1.0
Define a bounded supported feature set, a repeatable validation process, and a compatibility policy. The exact acceptance criteria will be refined from early user feedback. A 1.0 release should make explicit which interfaces and formats users can depend on.
Editor development
An editor is a separate development milestone. Its initial scope should be a small, usable scene-editing workflow with loading, editing, and saving. Detailed scope and scheduling remain open; runtime publication does not depend on having an editor.
